PhD Admission 2026-27 — Online Application Form
Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi has released applications for admission to PhD programmes for the academic session 2026-27 through UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, JRF and GATE categories. Eligible candidates can apply online from 6 October 2026 to 16 October 2026 (up to 11:50 PM) through the official admission portal.

Payment Mode: Online. The application-fee amount is shown on the admission portal at apply time — the e-Prospectus (§XVI) lists course / semester fees, not the application fee, so no amount is stated here.
Age Limit
As per JNU admission rules — the e-Prospectus does not state a general age limit for PhD admission.
Eligibility Criteria
PhD — NET / JRF / GATE categories
- Master's degree with at least 55% marks (50% for SC / ST / PwBD candidates).
- Valid UGC-NET / CSIR-NET / JRF or GATE scorecard, as applicable to the chosen programme.
- GATE route is for specified engineering disciplines only (School of Engineering).
- Applying under more than one category needs a separate application form per category.
- Candidates may choose up to three fields of study in order of preference; the preference order is treated as final.
Selection
- Shortlisting on the applicable entrance score, followed by viva-voce at the concerned School / Centre.
- Composite merit per the official e-Prospectus: NET percentile 70% + viva-voce 30%; GATE score 70% + viva-voce 30%. JRF-category selection is on viva-voce alone (100% weightage).

How to Apply
- Visit the official admission portal at jnuee.jnu.ac.in.
- Open the PhD Admission 2026-27 portal and choose your category (NET / JRF / GATE).
- Register with a valid email ID and mobile number.
- Fill academic & personal details and upload documents.
- Pay the application fee online.
- Submit the form and take a printout for future reference.
