Patna University LLB Merit List 2026
🎓
Patna University, Patna
🏫 LL.B. (3-year)
📅 Session: 2026–2029
Patna University has published the roster-based merit list for admission to the three-year LL.B. programme, and the word that matters most in the notice is 'provisionally'. Every name in the list is selected subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria — the list is the basis on which candidates are called for counselling. That confirmation happens only when the candidate's documents and eligibility are verified at counselling. The list is prepared on the roster system, which is why each entry carries a roster rank and a roster point category alongside the candidate's own category. Two candidates with the same entrance score can therefore sit at different roster positions, because the roster point — not the raw score alone — fixes the order of allotment. One feature of the scoring needs no guesswork: the merit list shows two mark columns. The first is the entrance examination score; the second is the weightage given to Patna University graduates, up to 10 marks. A candidate marked 'X' in that column received no weightage, while a PU graduate received the full 10. The final merit is the sum of the two. Candidates should therefore read their own row carefully — entrance marks, weightage, final marks, roster rank and roster point — and report for counselling as per the university's notified schedule.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
QWhat do the two mark columns in the merit list mean?
A. The first column (Entrance_marks) is the entrance examination score. The second column (Marks for PU) is the weightage given to Patna University graduates, up to 10 marks. Final Marks is the sum of the two. An 'X' in the PU column means no weightage was given.
QWhat is Roster Rank and Roster Point Category?
A. The merit list follows the roster system. Roster Rank is the candidate's position in the roster order. Roster Point Category (UR, EBC, BC, SC, ST, EWS, WBC, UR_F and similar) is the roster point against which the seat is counted.
QWho gets the 10 PU weightage marks?
A. Candidates who graduated from Patna University. In the merit list they are marked with 10 in the 'Marks for PU' column; all others are marked 'X'.
QWhy can a candidate with higher entrance marks sit below another candidate?
A. Because the roster point, not the raw entrance score alone, fixes the order of allotment. A candidate with higher entrance marks can sit at a lower roster position if the roster point places them there. Always go by your roster rank and roster point.
QMy name is not in the 300-name list. What does that mean?
A. Only 300 candidates are provisionally selected in this roster merit list. If your name is absent, you are not selected in this list. Keep checking pup.ac.in for any further notice from the university.
